PURE Insurance Introduces Domestic Workers’ Compensation Insurance

June 29, 2015

Privilege Underwriters Reciprocal Exchange (PURE), the policyholder-owned property and casualty insurer of high net worth individuals and families, announced today the introduction of Domestic Workers’ Compensation Insurance for members residing in Florida. The coverage provides often overlooked protection for trusted and valued domestic employees.

“The hard working individuals who provide loyal and valuable service for our membership can now benefit from the protection afforded by workers’ compensation insurance,” said Ross Buchmueller, President and CEO of PURE Insurance. “In the past, this coverage has been hard to obtain and inevitably involved the impersonal handling of a commercial lines carrier or a government-sponsored insurer of last resort.”
Eligible employees could include virtually all domestic employees, such as the dedicated individuals who care for children, prepare meals, clean homes, maintain gardens, provide for transportation and more.

Unlike other insurers, PURE’s Domestic Workers’ Compensation policies are issued in conjunction with homeowners, automobile, and all other personal lines of coverage; and, invoiced as part of a single bill for all of the member’s policies. PURE’s licensed adjusters will receive claims and help ensure members benefit from the high net worth expertise and service excellence that PURE is known for. PURE’s Risk Management Services professionals are also available with advice to mitigate loss and improve worker safety.

“I’ve been in the high net worth niche for nearly 25 years – on both the broker and carrier side – and PURE’s ability to provide this service as a fully-integrated private client offering is truly unique,” said John Paolini, Senior Vice President, Private Client Practice Leader at Gulfshore Insurance, a leading independent insurance broker in Naples, Florida.

In addition to the coverage for domestic staff, PURE’s membership can benefit from related services available through a PURE Member Advocate®, including identifying payroll administration vendors or tax service providers; locating recruitment or placement service providers; and facilitating complimentary background checks for domestic staff and applicants. As part of its Personal Excess Liability policy, PURE also provides an option to purchase coverage to defend its members against allegation of wrongful employment practices, including wrongful termination.

PURE’s Domestic Workers’ Compensation coverage is currently available in Florida and filings have been made to expand the offerings for eligible PURE members in other states throughout the coming months.
