Wildfire Mitigation Program

Reduce wildfire risk with PURE's Wildfire Mitigation Program

The Wildfire Mitigation Program is designed to reduce or even prevent wildfire damage through proactive home assessments and emergency response services.

Wildfire assessment & action plan

What it is
A PURE Risk Manager or trusted expert from our wildfire partner will inspect the exterior of your home and property for areas that are vulnerable to wildfire. We will provide a risk report with advice to safeguard your home and the space around it. We can help you implement our recommendations, including building materials, landscape maintenance and evacuation planning.

How it works
Homes in eligible states are prioritized based on the location and availability of our team. We will contact you via email to schedule your complimentary assessment when we are in your area.

If your home is in an eligible state, you can also request an assessment. You'll need your member ID and the address of your PURE-insured home to get started.

Emergency response services

What it is
PURE monitors for wildfires across the country. If one is expected to threaten your home, our partners may be dispatched to perform an emergency inspection of your property, which may include removing flammables near structures and applying fire suppressants to vulnerable areas.

How it works
No action is required on your part. Members in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming are automatically enrolled in emergency response services.

Your questions, answered

The assessment & action plan

We will inspect your home's exterior and any other structures on your property, focusing on roofs, siding and vents. We will also evaluate landscaping to ensure that it does not increase risk to your home and other structures.

The wildfire assessment is available to members in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

If you would like wildfire mitigation advice for a home in a non-eligible state, you are welcome to contact us at [email protected].

Ideally, we would like you to be present to ensure you get the most out of the assessment, but a trusted caretaker or family member can be present if that is more convenient.

For a typical single-family home, the assessment may take up to an hour. Larger properties with extensive landscaping and/or multiple structures will require additional time.

The wildfire assessment is complimentary to members in eligible states.

There is nothing you need to do ahead of time.

No, we will only need to access the exterior of your home and the property surrounding it.

Emergency response services

We may call or email you with updates and advice during an active wildfire. If an emergency response is warranted, we will attempt to reach you before coordinating the visit. Please contact your independent broker to verify that we have your most recent email address and phone number on file so that we can reach you if necessary.

If you are evacuated or otherwise away from home, our team will request information on how we can best access your property, such as gate codes or other special instructions. If you have questions, please email us at [email protected]

We work closely with local authorities in order to be sure we are deploying resources only when it is truly warranted. If we do send one of our wildfire mitigation partners to your area, we will make every attempt to reach your home; however, there may be situations where access is not possible because of unforeseen conditions or restrictions by local and state authorities. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that damage to your home will be prevented.

The services of our trusted providers are intended to reduce the likelihood of property damage caused by wildfire. They don’t replace the emergency services provided by your local municipality, state or federal responders, and don’t eliminate the possibility that you will need to evacuate your home. While they are not private fire departments, many members of the response teams are professional firefighters and have received qualifications and training from state-certified fire academies.

Emergency response services offered by PURE are complimentary to members in eligible states.

Depending on availability and the nature of the threat, our partners may choose to use any combination of the following materials to protect your home:

  • Water is the most basic type of defense. Our partners may install temporary sprinklers to spray your property with water until the active threat has passed.
  • Gel suppressants are water enhancers that increase the amount of water that reaches and clings to fuel and absorbs heat when they evaporate. Their effect lasts for a few hours and are most useful in the face of an immediate threat.
