More Than Insurance: Inside the Culture That Defines PURE

Katherine Richardson

Chief Human Resources Officer

January 9, 2026

Our culture shows up in how we work, how we support one another and how we make decisions as a company. From our shared mission to help members “love their insurance” to ongoing investments in employee growth, inclusion and community, the culture at PURE reflects intentional values and a people-first philosophy that shapes how we show up for each other and our members.

Our employee commitments in action

Our Employee Commitments clarify what we expect from one another, reflecting our shared responsibility to making PURE a great place to work. These are just a few of the ways our employees have brought these commitments to life.

Monique joined PURE focused on doing strong work behind the scenes. When she chose to co-found an Employee Resource Group, she stepped well outside her comfort zone. Leading ERGs helped build the confidence and visibility that now shape her leadership as a Broker Services Team Lead.

Emily brought her nonprofit experience to PURE and shared it during a Coworker Coffee. That conversation led to a PURE Foundation partnership with Father Joe’s Villages. Today, she continues supporting service and philanthropy as a PURE Impact Advisor.

5 things employees love about working at PURE

  1. Purposeful work. Our employees understand how their work connects to PURE’s mission. Teams are encouraged to think beyond transactions, focusing on long-term relationships and outcomes, and this sense of shared purpose helps employees see the value of their contributions.
  2. A thoughtful, supportive culture. Our culture emphasizes professionalism, transparency and mutual respect. Collaboration and accountability are a must. Employees are trusted to do their jobs thoughtfully and always encouraged to ask questions, share ideas and challenge assumptions in thoughtful ways. We strive to create a balance where our people can work independently while still feeling supported by their teams.
  3. Commitment to inclusion. Through Employee Resource Groups and everyday practices, employees have the opportunity to connect across differences, learn from each other and contribute to an inclusive workplace.
  4. Support for wellbeing. We recognize that our employees bring their full lives to work. Benefits and resources are designed to support the physical, mental and financial wellbeing of our employees. Flexible time off, wellness tools and family-focused benefits help employees manage their responsibilities and passions. Learn more about our benefits >
  5. Opportunities to learn at work and beyond. Employees have access to resources that encourage continuous learning and long-term career growth. Through our learning and development courses and benefits like tuition and passion course reimbursement, we encourage our people to lean into new responsibilities, collaborate across teams and dive deeper into topics they love.
We are encouraged to pursue a certification of our choice. For me, this has been an incredible opportunity to invest in my passion for health and wellness. I’ve been able to complete a Yoga Teacher Training program and earn a Holistic Nutritionist Certification.

Employee Resource Groups

Central to our cultural commitment is building an environment where everyone feels respected, seen and empowered to do their best work. Our Employee Resource Groups are employee-led communities that are open to all employees. They celebrate diverse perspectives, create a sense of belonging and foster professional growth across identities and experiences.

ERGs have shaped my journey in ways I never imagined. In 2020, I stepped out of my comfort zone by joining PURE’s ERG leadership team and in doing so, I found growth, confidence and belonging.

Cultural Engagement Committees

PURE's Cultural Engagement Committees aim to cultivate a thriving workplace culture by promoting employee engagement, supporting professional growth, encouraging community involvement and prioritizing wellness.

Building on our culture

Culture isn’t static—it evolves as PURE grows and expectations change. But our commitment to doing things thoughtfully with care for our members, our employees and the communities we serve will always remain constant.

For those who want to grow, be challenged and make a real impact alongside passionate colleagues, PURE offers a community where our people have the tools to thrive both professionally and personally.
