Reduce water damage risk with Flume

Water damage is one of the most common, costly and disruptive types of loss. To help reduce this risk, we've partnered with Flume, a 24/7 smart leak sensor and monitoring service that helps catch small leaks before they become big problems.

How it works

Once the Flume sensor is attached to your home’s water meter, it will monitor and track your water usage to detect leaks. It can detect water usage down to the one-hundredth of a gallon with enough accuracy to flag a leaky faucet or outdoor sprinkler. If a leak is detected, Flume will notify you so you can get the issue resolved.

Your questions, answered

No, the device and monitoring service is free to qualifying members for two years.

Flume does not qualify you for policy discounts and its use will have no impact on your coverage or premium. Flume is being offered as a risk management solution to help you avoid a common causes of loss.

Our Flume program is currently available to members in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, South Carolina or Texas.

Flume typically takes less than 10 minutes to install, you don’t need any tools or plumbing know-how. Just download the Flume app from the Google Play Store or App Store, connect to Wi-Fi and fasten the sensor to your water meter (typically located in your basement or at the end of your driveway).

A smartphone and a 24/7 Wi-Fi connection with internet access is all that is required.

Flume uses patented technology to read the magnetic field directly from your water meter and detect usage down to the one-hundredth of a gallon—that’s enough to detect a dripping faucet or outdoor sprinkler. Flume uses machine learning and a sophisticated algorithm to detect leaks and notify you right away.

When Flume detects a leak, it will notify you in the app, by email and by text message. If Flume alerts you to a leak, open the app and you will be guided through the next steps.

One Flume will monitor usage within a typical house with one main water supply line. There is no need for additional devices.
