Protect your home from electrical fires with Ting

While home fires are infrequent, they are dangerous and, in some heartbreaking cases, deadly. Of the top five costliest claims to impact the PURE membership, all were fires and two were suspected to have been caused by electrical issues.

Ting, a smart sensor that monitors your home’s electrical system, can dramatically reduce the risk of an electrical fire. It’s easy to install and provides 24/7 monitoring.

How it works

Ting plugs into any wall outlet and continuously monitors your home’s electrical system, detecting damaged wires, loose connections or faulty appliances that can cause an electrical fire.

If a hazard is detected, you’ll receive a notification on your phone and a call from Ting’s Fire Safety Team with next steps. Ting includes a $1,000 repair credit if an electrician is required to fix the issue.

It's Quick and Simple

Installation takes two to three minutes. All you need is a smart phone, Wi-Fi and an available outlet.

It's Private and Non-Intrusive

Ting only monitors your electrical system. It doesn’t contain cameras, listening devices, microphones or motion detectors, and the app doesn't require access to other data on your phone.

There’s No Cost to You

Installing a Ting will not affect your premiums or coverage. It’s available to you free of charge as a way to help keep your family safe and prevent loss.

Your Questions, Answered

No, the Ting device and monitoring service is offered as a complimentary service for 3 years.

Installing Ting does not qualify you for a policy discount and it won't affect your premium or coverage.

This program is currently available for homes in AL, AZ, CA, FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, MN, MO, NE, NH, OH, SC, VT and WV. At this time, condos and rentals do not qualify.

Ting is designed to be entirely do-it-yourself and only takes two to three minutes to install. Simply download the Ting Sensor app from the Google Play Store or App Store and the Ting Sensor app will guide you through the setup process.

A smartphone and a 24/7 Wi-Fi connection with internet access is all that is required.

Ting monitors your electrical network for the main precursors to electrical fires, micro-arcs, and sparks that develop in faulty wires, loose connections and faulty appliances or devices. These signals usually develop over weeks and months, so Ting is designed to provide you with advanced warnings to address these hazards before they might develop into an electrical fire.

Ting does not contain any other technology such as microphones, cameras or motion detectors.

Privacy and your information

No device information from your smartphone is used or passed to Ting, except what is done in the Ting app. The Ting sensor doesn’t require access to other data on your phone.

Ting does not track your location. The Ting app retrieves location from your smartphone one time during installation, so it can properly register your service to your home. After that, the location of your smartphone is not needed.

Information sharing between PURE and Ting. PURE will share your name, address, phone number and email address with Ting to enroll you in the service and ship your sensor. After you activate Ting, signal data from your sensor will not be shared with PURE. PURE will only receive summary counts of power quality events and any identified fire hazards from Ting. If a fire hazard is identified, a summary of the hazard is shared with PURE following remediation.

Ting does not share your information with third parties. However, if professional remediation is required and coordinated with you, Ting will share your name and address with the authorized contractors to facilitate repairs. If a potential electrical fire or hazard is identified to be originating from your electric utility, Ting will share your data with your utility company to support their effort to fix it. In severe cases, Ting may also share data with first responders who can support mitigation and response efforts.
