To help prevent water damage—one of the most common, costly and disruptive losses for the PURE membership—our Risk Managers recommend LeakBot, a smart water leak detector that spots hidden leaks before they become bigger problems. And because you are a member, we’re offering the device and plumbing repair service to you at no cost.

This program is currently available as a pilot to PURE members with homes in Washington state and in the following counties in New York: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk and Westchester. Among the membership, preventable water damage claims account for more than $133 million each year. Not only are these claims costly, but they are also disruptive with members being displaced from their home for an average of nearly 100 days while repairs take place.

LeakBot, an easy-to-install sensor that clips on to a pipe near your home’s main water supply and monitors your water system 24/7 for leaks, can help reduce the risk of preventable water damage.

How it works

Once the LeakBot sensor is clipped to a pipe near your home’s main water supply, it monitors both the air and water temperatures in your home. If there is a leak, your pipes will continually draw colder water from outside into your home, creating a drop in water and pipe temperature. When LeakBot senses a prolonged and consistent drop in temperature, it will notify you of the problem by sending an alert to your phone. They’ll also arrange for a plumber to visit your home to find and fix the issue, at no cost to you.

Setup is Simple

It takes less than 5 minutes to install and you don’t need any plumbing know-how. All you need is a smart phone and Wi-Fi.

It's Private and Non-Intrusive

LeakBot only monitors the air temperature and pipe temperature in your home. It doesn’t gather any other data about your home or access other data on your phone.

There’s No Cost to You

Installing a LeakBot will not affect your premiums or coverage. It’s available to you for free to help you prevent loss and avoid the stress of experiencing a claim.

THE LEAKBOT PROGRAM

No, the device, monitoring and repair service is offered as a complementary service to qualifying members for 2 years.

Installing LeakBot does not qualify you for a policy discount and it won't affect your premium or coverage. It is offered as a risk management service to help you avoid a much too common disruption in our members’ lives.

This program is currently available for PURE members with homes in Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk and Westchester counties in New York.

INSTALLATION & LEAK DETECTION

LeakBot takes less than 5 minutes to install, you don’t need any tools or plumbing know how. Just download the LeakBot app from the Google Play Store or App Store and activate your account. Step by step instructions will walk you through locating your main water supply and clipping the LeakBot to the pipe. It really is easy.

A smartphone and a 24/7 Wi-Fi connection with internet access is all that is required.

LeakBot’s patented Thermi-Q technology accurately measures both the air and pipe temperatures in your home. If you have a leak it will continually draw colder water from outside into your home, creating a consistent drop in temperature. LeakBot can sense the prolonged and consistent drop in temperature and alerts you to the problem.

When a LeakBot detects a leak, it will notify you in the LeakBot app, by email and by text message. If a LeakBot alerts you to a leak, open the LeakBot app and you will be guided through the next steps.

One LeakBot will monitor usage within a typical house with one main water supply line. There is no need for additional devices.

A trusted LeakBot plumber will visit your home, use specialized equipment to locate the leak, fix it and confirm that your home is leak free before they leave. All at no charge to you.

Privacy and your information

No device information from your smartphone is used or passed to LeakBot, except what is done in the LeakBot app. LeakBot doesn’t require access to other data on your phone.

LeakBot does not track your location. During the registration process, you will be asked to provide the address of where you are installing the device so we can properly register the service to your home. The app does not access the location of your smartphone.

Information sharing between LeakBot and PURE. Data from your LeakBot sensor may be shared with PURE. PURE will use this data to evaluate LeakBot’s effectiveness and to ensure that your home is better protected from water leaks. If a leak is detected, PURE will be notified with a summary of the issue and how it was resolved.

LeakBot does not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. However, if a leak is detected, your information will be shared with LeakBot’s plumbing expert to facilitate the visit to your home for location and repair.
